I'm constantly running into tips and tricks on how to deseed, stuff, cut, slice and even eat all different types of chili peppers so I figured... why not keep them all in one handy dandy place! Here is a running list of what I've discovered so far. Drop a comment if you have a good tip I should add to the list!
- Stuff your chilies and peppers quicker. After removing the top and the seeds place it in a drinking glass, or a muffin tin if you have several, to keep it upright while you stuff it.
- To seed those small chiles, remove the stem and cut the chile in half then roll the chile to force the seeds out then you're free to cut into rings.
- Avoid hand burns when chopping chiles by coating your chile holding hand with oil.
- Use a rasp grater to finely grate your chiles to get all the heat they have to offer. Avoid burns when grating by coving your hand with a plastic bag.
- Use a grapefruit spoon to easily scoop and scrape out the pepper's seeds and veins.
