So you wanna take a cooking class... 🍳👩🏻🍳
What exactly is a Toast & Table cooking class like?
At Toast & Table, we strive to provide a fun, hands-on, and educational cooking experience that is both interactive and relaxed. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or a beginner, our classes are designed to help you develop your culinary skills while enjoying the process!
Arrival & Sign-In
Classes typically begin at 6:00 pm, but we kindly ask guests to arrive about 15 minutes early. This gives you plenty of time to sign in, wash your hands, put on a provided Toast & Table apron, and get ready for a fun cooking experience. Upon arrival, you will be seated at cooking stations around our kitchen island and grouped to cook in pairs. If you booked a class with a friend or partner, you’ll be seated together. Even if you’re paired with someone you don’t know, you’ll be cooking alongside another person who is just as passionate about food as you are!
Meet Your Chef & Introduction
Once everyone is settled in, the chef will introduce themselves and provide a brief overview of the night’s menu. They’ll also go over any frequently asked questions about the class. Throughout the evening, the chef will guide you step-by-step through each dish, offering tips, techniques, and personal guidance.
Drinks Station
Throughout the class, feel free to help yourself to our drinks station, which includes a mini-fridge stocked with soft drinks, tea, Gatorade, water, and coffee, along with various glassware. If you’d like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage while you cook, you are welcome to bring your own! Toast & Table does not provide alcohol, but we encourage you to bring your favorite wine or beer to sip while you cook.
Appetizer
Each class typically begins with an appetizer. Depending on the class, you may be making it yourself with the guidance of the chef, or the chef will demonstrate how it’s done before you sit down to enjoy the appetizer together.
Main Course & Side Dishes
Next, you’ll dive into preparing the main course and side dishes! You’ll work alongside your partner to create the dishes, while the chef also cooks and provides guidance, tips, and techniques along the way. The staff will come around to clear any used tools and dishes as you go, ensuring a smooth, efficient cooking process.
Dinner & Chef Demonstration
Once the dishes are prepared, plates, napkins, and flatware will be provided so you can sit down and enjoy your meal. While you savor your dinner, the chef will typically give a demonstration and explanation of the dessert, which will likely have been pre-made ahead of time. This is the perfect time to ask any questions you may have about the meal, cooking techniques, or food in general.
Wrapping Up
Classes usually last around 2.5 hours from start to finish. After class, feel free to stay and shop the tools you used during the class. You can also take this opportunity to ask the chef any final questions or get additional cooking tips!
We can’t wait to welcome you to a Toast & Table cooking class. It’s going to be a fun, educational, and delicious time!
