About Us
Toast & Table is O'Fallon's happy place for home cooks — a local kitchen store and teaching kitchen where food, community, and creativity come together. Our hands-on cooking classes sell out the day they're listed. Our guests come back again and again (60% of our students are returning guests). And our chefs? They're the reason.
The Role
We're looking for a Cooking Class Chef who loves people as much as they love food. This isn't a restaurant — there's no chaotic service, no late-night breakdown, and no cleanup duty at the end of the night. You lead the class, you connect with guests, and then you go home.
Our classes are intimate and hands-on. Up to 10 guests cook alongside you at one large shared island, working in pairs while you guide, teach, and cook right alongside them. You're not just making great food — you're creating a memory.
What You'll Do
Lead engaging, hands-on cooking classes for small groups of up to 10 guests
Design and test recipes that are approachable, delicious, and teachable
Guide participants through techniques with patience, warmth, and enthusiasm
Create a fun, inclusive atmosphere that reflects the Toast & Table spirit
Collaborate with our team on class scheduling, menu planning, and ingredient sourcing
Maintain food safety and kitchen organization during class
What You Won't Do
Clean up at the end of the night — our team handles that so you don't have to
Work chaotic double shifts or split schedules
Deal with ticket times, angry tables, or midnight breakdowns
What We're Looking For
Culinary training or solid professional cooking experience
A warm, approachable teaching style — you make beginners feel capable and excited
Comfortable leading a room and reading a crowd
Strong communication and time management skills
Available Friday and Saturday evenings (our most popular class nights) plus select weekday evenings. No Sundays, no major holidays — just Valentine's Day, because of course.
Bonus Points
Experience teaching cooking classes or leading culinary demonstrations
A passion for community-driven, memorable food experiences
Interest in seasonal and local ingredients
The Perks
Classes end by 9 pm — no late nights, no cleanup, just go home
Flexible scheduling that works around your life
Creative freedom to develop your own class menus
A kitchen where guests are happy, grateful, and choose to be there
Supportive ownership team that genuinely invests in their chefs
Employee discount on store merchandise
The satisfaction of guests who come back — again and again
